About Dega

My name is Alessandro Degasperi, friends and fans are calling me just “Dega”; I was born in Trento November 23, 1980 and I live in Predazzo, a small town in the beautiful Val di Fiemme, with my wife Federica (former triathlete and my physical therapist) and together with our son Luca, who’s Daddy’s biggest fan! I started with Triathlon at the age of 15 after having had experienced different sports. Val di Fiemme as one of the main valleys of the Dolomites in Trentino, is best known for winter sports, even if I started step by step competing in Triathlon. Val di Fiemme is the place where I’m training all over the year, except for some cold winter periods, preferring locations with a much more pleasant climate. My real serious professional training headquarter is the Sports Center of Predazzo. As well as enjoying to train in Trento with the guys of UNI.Team (CUS Trento), whom I’m supporting as sport teacher. My very first official season in the “triple” goes back to 1996, having had a beautiful and exciting victory, winning the Italian title in the junior class, representing the team of the Dolomitica Nuoto (coached by my current trainer Alberto Bucci). From 1996 to 2006 I joined the Italian national team, participating in European and World Championships, focused on Olympic distances. 2005 was as a very special year, winning the first ever European Winter Triathlon Championship, followed by the Italian edition of XTERRA at Villacidro (Cagliari). Since 2007 (the year, having had suffered a lot of a serious injury) I decided to go ahead participating in long distance “no draft” races: which was a good choice. Immediately having had success to be on the podium of the Ironman 70.3 European Championships for 3 times (2007-2008 and 2013) and winning the 2012 Ironman 70.3 Zell am See (Salzburg) plus many top positions (including 3 times, 2nd at the Ironman 70.3 Italy).
