I spent my last days in Marseilles in occasion of my participation at the Hoka One One Athletes European Meeting (Triathlon, Running and Trail). On the road to home, I chose to ride on two hard bike courses: Ironman Nice and Polar Cannes International Triathlon. Cannes in particular will be my first test of this triathlon season. The atmospheric conditions was very hard, influencing my bike rides in Nice especially (quote over 1000m) not spring-like!
Both the bike courses are very hard, Cannes especially: 1500m of height difference in 75k with very important slopes; a technical bike course with many curves with a long succession of ascents and descents, and narrow streets where is possible to “make the difference” with a perfect bike control..
The Ironman Nice bike course is also very hard but more soft than Cannes, with its 2000m of height difference in 150k. Secondary streets and discents in particular, have a key role in this amazing race. My advice is to be prudent and study the bike course in the best way! It’s absolutely important to know all features of all bike courses that you want ride, especially for the hard courses like these!
