Two days ago I went training with my bike around Garda Lake together with my friends (it was a cold day) and I thought how can be lucky a pro athlete who train in hot weather. A life of a pro athlete is a mix of sacrifices (first of all, the time spent far away from the family) but at the same time there’s the real possibility to improve the physical conditions and preparation without interruptions. Catania Training Camp is my next step (it will start tomorrow), then Lanzarote Training Camps at the end of February, and lastly TRAIN like A PRO in Santo Stefano a Mare (Liguria region) one week before Easter. And last but not least my three official races (for now) of this triathlon season (my personal No 23) in three continents with a totally different weather. For this reason, I thought to tell you why I chose these three races.

. Ironman 70.3 Taiwan (March 18)

A 70.3 four weeks before my first full distance of the year will be a test about my physical conditions, which will help me to know my level of performance improvement. There are not many alternatives in March but I taked advantage of the kindness by Ceepo who invited me to the presentation of its new TT bike preview.

. Ironman South Africa (April 15)

I have a “score to settle” with Port Elizabeth seeing as how one year ago I was not at 100% of physical conditions due to an accident. IM South Africa will be the first “everyone against everyone” for two reasons: start list is one of the most competitive in the IM (then Kona) and each male and female Pro Athlete winner of the 2018 Ironman Regional Championship Races (as IM African Championship South Africa) will be qualified to participate in the 2018 Kona Race. Furthermore, be in the top 5 means to obtain the 50% of qualification (this race assigns twice points). I will try to make my voice heard.

. Ironman Lanzarote (May 26)

As you know, Lanzarote is like feel right at home for me. I love so much this place where I obtained my best results, and I’m sure I can still do a good race. Make another great season like 2017 will not easy but it’s not impossible. I realized (with the passing of the years) that one of the most important thing is the self-knowledge. Fort this reason, I’m sure I can still improve my performance in the long distance, because you learn something new every day. I will make my best as ever to come back to Hawaii for the third consecutive time.. because “good things come in threes”. However, I would like to live another ending this time.

Ale
